So Much for Good Intentions

I just woke up, so I don’t know yet what kind of writing mood I’m in today. I have three more chapters to work through in the third draft of Privileged Lives. Those will get done today. I tore through eight or nine chapters yesterday, so three should be a cinch. Even if there are days when two is all I can manage.

Then on to . . .  Ancien: Gift of Blood. That wasn’t supposed to happen. I shoved The Warden aside for Privileged Lives, and now I’m shoving it aside again for Gift of Blood. Just shows how the best-laid plans go to hell in a hurry when writer-mind takes over and says “I don’t care what you planned to do next; this is what has to be done.” I’ve shoved Gift of Blood aside for two years, so it’s a legitimate claim. And what was the point of ripping out all the interludes and putting them out as a collection of short stories unless it was to stir up interest in Gift of Blood?

So, do you want lots of great writing advice? Chuck Wendig has a new “25 Things” post that every would-be and/or struggling writer should take a look at. There’s bound to be something there that applies to YOU. Like “Stop writing in someone else’s voice.” “Stop thinking it should be easier.” “Stop the moping and the whining.” “Stop chasing trends.” “Stop caring what other writers are doing.”
