This is a work-in-progress, mostly written, but going through heavy revision. I’ll be posting excerpts here in the run-up to publication, rather than as blog posts. They’re not final draft, but they are fairly well edited. Hoped-for publication date — late June or early July. (August?)

/ July 18, 2012Just looking at your blurb about Privileged Lives on Goodreads, it sounds to me like a dystopian science fiction. I think a lot of novels an movies, are a combination of genres. John Truby, the author of The Anatomy of Story says that Avatar is a disaster film combined with an epic love story. My feeling… as long as the story is good, it doesn’t matter what the genre is.

/ July 18, 2012Yes, it’s dystopian SF, but barely. It’s much more about a teen coming to terms with a life he’s been forced into and growing up in the process. This book isn’t selling, and I can understand why. I just tweaked the description again, on Amazon, and it’s also tagged as YA and coming of age. Maybe it will find its audience some day, but I’m not holding my breath. I wrote it because the idea took hold of me and demanded that I write it. Not exactly a profound marketing decision.
I’ll have to look up The Anatomy of Story. Sounds interesting.
